: Network Security & Management
Comfort Zone is a range of network security and management services from Dymaxion designed to give you peace of mind. Its an odd maxim, but when you connect your business to the world, remember the world is also connected to you. Every single computer in the world with a telephone line attached or Internet connection has the inherent ability to see and use your computer resources!
In practical terms, your data can be read, changed or destroyed. Without your knowledge, your hardware equipment can be used for inappropriate or illegal purposes, such as distributing viruses or sending spam mail. Corporate data can also disappear in an instant due to theft, and poor backup maintenance can cost you an entire database following hardware breakdowns or data destruction.
By using the very latest software tools and highly qualified technicians, our Comfort Zone services can substantially reduce these risks. There are five areas in the Comfort Zone, each designed to focus on a different issue: Intruder Alert!, Secure Remote Networking, Virus Block, Back-up Audit and our popular Service-on-Call.
Zone One: Intruder Alert!
How easy is it for outsiders to access your computer resources? Can someone use your mail server for illegal purposes without your knowledge, or perhaps your printers or fax resources? Is your telephone system connected to your network and exactly who is storing data at your site?
Intruder Alert! is designed to tell you exactly how easy it is to access your network from the outside. Even if you have a firewall installed, it will have limitations or may be out of date you cannot assume you have absolute protection.
Intruder Alert! uses special software tools designed to crack your security. Our technicians extensively test and probe your site pushing your security protection to its limit. We then provide a detailed report categorizing security weaknesses into levels of concern. With this information we can assist you in making changes in policy, systems administration and network configuration to close the points of entry.
We can schedule Intruder Alert! to meet your operational needs and customize our approach should you have specific areas of concern. With the results of our Intruder Alert! service you will gain substantial peace of mind that the risk of improper access to your computer resources has been reduced. One hundred percent security cannot be reached, but you will enter a new comfort zone of security.
Zone Two: Secure Remote Networking
With employee home offices, travelling staff and permanent connections to branch offices and more transactions being conducted on-line, you may be concerned about who reads your data as it moves across the Internet or what may happen if a notebook is stolen. The amount of equipment, software and know-how required to watch and read internet traffic is surprisingly small, so you can rest assured interested people around the world may be sharing your transaction details.
The answer to this problem is to make your remote connections secure by implementing Virtual Private Network technology (VPN) and notebook data encryption. With VPN implemented, data that is en-route is automatically encrypted. This means those who attempt to capture and read your transaction can only see encrypted material. Once the transactions arrive at their correct destination they are automatically de-encrypted.
Implementation of VPN and encryption requires a thorough planning process. Dymaxion can help you plan, implement and maintain secure communications that get you into the comfort zone.
Zone Three: Virus Block
Virus programs are being written and distributed by malicious programmers all over the world. Some virus programs are merely practical jokes while others can be destructive, leading to loss of data, programs or even a suspension in your ability to conduct business.
New and inventive ways to distribute virus programs are being invented daily, so you need both a corporate virus policy to be followed by all your employees and the protection of an anti-virus software program. A corporate policy will sensitize employees and help reduce the risk of a virus infection. Generally staff may not understand the ramifications of loading personal software or opening non-business mail and other activities commonly used by viruses to propagate themselves. Additionally, a quality screening anti-virus software package, properly installed and maintained will help prevent virus infections.
Many organizations do not maintain a virus policy and many do not regularly ensure their anti-virus software is configured and remaining active in a changing systems environment. Our Zone Three Virus Block service will address these issues using highly experienced technicians and the very latest software.
Zone Four: Back-up Audit
Data backup is the last safety net when disc drives fail, users delete inappropriately or virus infections ruin databases. Backup policies, procedures, media and hardware should be audited frequently to ensure you maintain the ability to restore data.
Often, a servers disc capacity is expanded or the configuration changed and the backup configuration is left ignorant and unable to accommodate the new data. Media rotation and off-site storage procedures should also be frequently audited to ensure they meet current demand together with a measured media replacement schedule.
The absence or failure of recoverable data can mean serious losses to any organization. A regular audit by Dymaxion can put you into Zone Four of comfort.
Zone Five: Service-On-Call - Our most popular way to support all of your computing needs...
The critical moment when your servers or network halt business is when you need to know that expert help is nearby. To cover situations that your own in-house staff might find challenging, or perhaps during vacation periods Dymaxion has designed the Service-on-Call program.
